Garden Week Seven

Sooo, I totally forgot to post this last week! I saved it until I got more photos, but that didn't work.. I have more photos, but I'm just going to go ahead and post these since I have no clue when I'll have a chance later.

The peas look fantastic! We're also really excited that the cayennes have started to turn and will be nice and edible soon. The banana peppers at camp have started growing in as well, and I'm hoping the tomatillos somewhere start growing in-- I'm dying to make either salsa verde or salsa perpurpa!

More pictures as soon as I can come up with some time!

Let them eat cake!

38 days to the wedding, says our Facebook Countdown!! We're starting to get the RSVPs, though we still have tons left to get! On Nov. 25th, we're just going to go through the list and take our best guess-- the worst that happens is we have a little too much food and hand it out to our wedding party for their flights/drives back!

Our biggest challenge here is the cake-- we've decided to do cupcakes which will a) be cute, and b) cut down on the cutting. I mean, we don't want to spend half an hour cutting and distributing cake, you know? This way, we'll have several cute little cake stands set up with cupcakes on top and surrounding the base of each stand. At least, that's how I see it in my head. I should look in to making some of those stands since cake stands are STUPID EXPENSIVE! So without further ado...

(this is the exact same thing I posted on FB, by the way)

Soooo, we're trying to narrow down flavors for the cake at the wedding and since we need to narrow it down, I'm asking for more!

Here are the flavors I have right now, so if you have more that you'd like to add, add them-- or, if you really want to see one of these, comment that, too!

Pound Cake
Red Velvet Cake
Carrot Cake
Almond
Chocolate Cherry
Mexican Chocolate (with cayenne)
Amaretto
Humming Bird Cake
Chai
Lemon Raspberry

We are doing cupcakes, so we'll have multiple flavors, we're just not sure how many yet!

Wonderful night

Went to the wine tasting at Palate tonight which was an absolute blast. It was a dueling distributors kind of setup-- Leslie, Craig, and Jeff were there so entertainment was endless. Emily came and joined me, and we met a couple of nice older gentlemen (Bill and Steve) who joined us and taught us a little about wine and provided good conversation. Bill works for the Nat'l Park Service, which was interesting since he seemed to be OK with parks land being exploited for oil exploration, but he was very nice and there seemed to be a mutual move past the point and on to something more interesting so off we went. Craig ended up with the best wine, a Spanish varietal which was almost extinct. It had the nose of a sweeter wine, like a muscat, but an interesting, tangy, tart kind of finish to it. I can't recall the exact name at the moment, but it was really great.

Not much else going on. I took the battery to get checked and charged and that's not the problem, so it means the starter is gone. Thankfully, my tax refund should be in tomorrow or Monday, so I can get the starter taken care of this weekend. It'll be about $140, which isn't too bad in the big picture, and it's only the second original part that's been replaced that didn't have anything to do with the accident-- the other of which was the alternator two years ago. I went by Target today and picked up some new socks, though I was really sad about the clearance St. Patty's day knee socks-- they didn't fit at all! They were soooo soft, I was excited, but sadly it was not meant to be. There were some other little ankle socks like the kind I wear that were on clearance, so their softness will suffice for now. I'm considering getting some of the little knitted slippers they had on clearance, too-- I just want something to wear around the house/in bed. I still have the monkeys Jeremy got me, but they're not really bed-worthy slippers.

That's about all for now, off to watch some Angel and fall asleep. Ciao!
