Memphis and Analia

Of course I wrote about going to see Ana and Valerie in Memphis, but since I left my camera there I couldn't share any of the few pictures I got! There aren't really any pictures of her, me, and Jeremy which is what I really wanted, but you know...

"Come on, Aunt Meg!"
Jan and Ana
Ana and me
I thought this one was pretty cute
She loved eating the ice cubes out of Jan's mug
And playing with my Blackberry and Jan's iPhone!

She's such a sweet girl, I really wish we got to see her more often. Hopefully, Matt and Valerie will re-use their plan to leave Ana in the States when they go pick up the boys in Africa so we can see her some more!

Ravioli!

The next installment in "things Meg hasn't updated in forever" comes from early January, when we broke out our wedding present from Joanna and Adam-- the dumpling/perogi maker!!

We made the most fantastic ravioli with ground chicken, cheese, and prosciutto-- YUM!

Jeremy starts the dough making process

Ravioli filling in the pan

Our first ravioli!

LOTS of raviolis!

We had leftover filling, so we made a scramble out of it

while all the ravioli boiled in the pot

they were fantastic!

I should be cooking...

But instead I'm uploading photos! Woohoo!

This first batch is from Christmas in Indiana which I just never got to get up! We went straight up there after the wedding to see the Clark side of the family.

Been a while... again

And no, I'm not going to start in to that AWFUL song by... Creed? Nickleback? One of those bands that melts in to the background after several years...

Things have been preeeetty busy for a while, and we DID get an apartment, which has been part of the insanity, on top of the fact that we only just got internet yesterday after several weeks! AT&T-- they still suck.

We're living a couple doors up from OBC, which is a fantastic area. It's so great being walking distance from The Matador, Palate, U Joint, Nectar, and my hair salon! Sweeeet! Well, I assume it's great, the weather only just got nice enough to walk anywhere.

I'll come back with some general updates in installments so I don't wear you thin with stories, but there's been so much going on it might take a while! There are also, as always, pictures involved!

Here's my easy peasy recipe for the day, see you next time!

Udon and Beef

2-3oz sirloin tip sliced thin and in to strips
1 package plain udon noodles
Siracha to taste
1.5 tsp Sesame Oil

Sautee beef in sesame oil until med rare and top udon noodles with beef and drippings, squirt on Siracha to taste, fill bowl with water to cover noodles, pop in microwave until the noodles are soft and enjoy.

(since things have been so busy, I'm all about easy cooking lately...)

Sooo, it's been a while

There are a few reasons for my prolonged disappearance... the most of which is my smashed computer screen. Which didn't get fixed because Sony f'd up and couldn't actually sell me the warranty I bought. And they still haven't given me back my money. STILL. The're getting on my nerves juuuust a little.

Anyway, I'm pretty solidly in to my director's position at after school and I'm in the middle of trying to figure out how to split up my job so that I could have an AD and possibly an office manager for the summer. The other good news is that Jeremy and I are FINALLY in a place where we can look at an apartment of our own!! Squee!

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/apa/1596256463.html

That's the apartment we're looking at and this is what the owner has to say:

"Meg, the apartment is a turn of the century Victorian house with huge porch, large living room with 10' ceilings, antique fire place, original china cabinet, laundry, pocket doors, new kitchen, c/h/a (included in rent) new bath with vintage b&w tile floor, pedestal sink, huge double headed shower with glass block, walk in closet. $850 includes utilities. The apartment is in perfect shape & it's a great neighborhood. You can walk to downtown Decatur & Oakhurst."

We think c/h/a means central heating and air, but we'll see. She sent a few pictures that look pretty nice, and it's in a decent area so hopefully it'll work out. I think I was actually the first person to respond, so I'm going to look at it tomorrow morning. If it looks good, we're probably going to jump on it! Between the two of us we can definitely afford $855/mo and we're DYING for a place of our own!

Plus, the built in china cabinet doesn't hurt ;) We have to have somewhere to display wedding china and the ENTIRE SET of cobalt glasses Jay Yau got us!!

Brief interlude: Ellen DeGeneres is still as cute as she's always been. LOVE her.

What else has happened? A lot, I'm sure, but I can't even remember!

Let's see-- the last time I updated we were in MS visiting family... we saw "When in Rome" with Joanna for my birthday, and hit up The Matador for dinner. We went to Tybee for a marathon, which was loads of fun! I MISS COASTAL GEORGIA!!!

I left my camera in MS, so there aren't a lot of pictures from the last month, but I'll post some soon from Christmas on!

ciao for now!

Goin' to Graceland, Graceland, Memphis, TN...

This week... it's been long:
-Jeremy got reeeeally sick with a stomach virus this week
-Trying to save my computer from falling in the floor, I smashed the screen
-Discovered Sony's extended warranty plan
-Became $200 cheaper
-Have to figure out how to transfer all my stuff off my hard drive to the external one since the computer is perfectly fine, it's just the screen. Blah.
-I have also consequently fallen behind on CafeWorld. No worries, Donna, I'll get you yet!

Tonight:

We're hanging out watching Food Network with Jeremy's parents and sister, Ana's (ostensibly) in bed, and we had a really fantastic day spending time with our amazing little niece! I know she's got more energy than possibly even Julian, but I would feel so lucky if we ended up with a smart little girl like her. She's got an hilarious little "Oh..." followed by a look when she's disappointed or disgusted by something, and has spent the whole day inquiring about mine and Jeremy's whereabouts whenever we're not in the room. Today we went to the store for snacks, and while playing with my phone, she called Jenny-Lind who called back and got to talk to Ana for a few minutes.

This afternoon, I got her a little necklace and bracelet (since she'd been asking Jan about her bracelet, and trying to take mine that Dill got me in Italy, and since the Christmas present I got for her is waay too big!) from Claire's and she's lost the bracelet, but that's more the fault of her wrist being so darn tiny!

I started to get ahead of Sallie Mae on Jeremy's loan stuff, and looked in to a new hard drive for my computer (external, my computer is fine... except for that whole smashed in screen that happened the other day... thank goodness for extended accidental warranty coverage!), and added a few people to my family tree on Ancestry.com-- there's some pretty cool stuff on there!

Tomorrow should be fun, we're going to chill out most all day and hopefully I'll get some pictures of us with Ana (since my camera is here!!) and then we're going to Bdubs and a hockey game for my birthday! Whee!!

That's about all for now, I'll try to update when we get back from Atlanta!

2010, pretty awesome so far!

Not a whole lot of updates on life in 2010 so far-- we've been busy, but not stressed, and things are finally starting to look up. Looks like my greens and black eyed peas may actually be doing the trick this year! Plus pretty much everyone I've met thinks the $15 set of rings I got at Target is real! "Oh my gosh, that diamond is so pretty!" So, if you need fake diamonds, Target's the place to go!

I left my camera in Southaven, which is a bit of a bummer, but I think I got all the pictures off of it before we left so I guess that's good. The next time I'll see it is after my birthday :(

I got some good news on the job front; Richard's stepping down (he wants to go back to school, Good Luck, Rich!!) so I'm getting promoted! As of now it's just an interim position, and I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but I have a positive attitude regarding the outcome so hopefully that means we won't be living in our cell for too much longer!

*crosses fingers*

We're also excited because the next time we go to Memphis, we'll see Analia!! We haven't seen her since she was 9 months old and we can't wait. Obviously, we'll also get to see Valerie, too :) Matt is coming, I think, in February which will also be nice.

Anyway, that's about all the news fit (or unfit) to print, so I'll wrap it up. Hope everyone's staying warm! It's pretty frigid out there!
