Mic Check, 1, 2...

Anyone still out there? We've been having so much drama with our internets I haven't even bothered trying to upload pictures... here goes nothing! For those of you who didn't see on the Facebook, here's our new house (unfurnished!); furnished pictures to come soon-- but we're still piecing the place together!

Back yard-- could use some taming!

Back deck-- perfect size for our bench and grill!

WASHER AND DRYER!!!

DISHWASHER! GAS STOVE! COUNTER SPACE!

Rest of the kitchen-- it's cute :)

Our bedroom

Living room

"Office" (where that desk Jeremy hates will go when it comes down from MS)

Guest bedroom

All the closets are the same size; not very big, but not too shabby :)

Bathroom with awesome tires

Bathroom/linen closet
It's a really cute house, and it has an enormous attic that runs the length of the house-- we've just been so busy we haven't had a chance to put very much together! I'll take some pictures this weekend to update y'all on how things are looking after we sort out a few more things. We love it here; it's nice and quiet and there's enough space for both of us to knock around and do whatever we want. The other place, we were just going through the motions of living there, but this place is actually somewhere we can live and be happy!

(plus, our landlord is so far head and shoulders and BFG's above our old ones!)

Sooo, it's been a while

There are a few reasons for my prolonged disappearance... the most of which is my smashed computer screen. Which didn't get fixed because Sony f'd up and couldn't actually sell me the warranty I bought. And they still haven't given me back my money. STILL. The're getting on my nerves juuuust a little.

Anyway, I'm pretty solidly in to my director's position at after school and I'm in the middle of trying to figure out how to split up my job so that I could have an AD and possibly an office manager for the summer. The other good news is that Jeremy and I are FINALLY in a place where we can look at an apartment of our own!! Squee!

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/apa/1596256463.html

That's the apartment we're looking at and this is what the owner has to say:

"Meg, the apartment is a turn of the century Victorian house with huge porch, large living room with 10' ceilings, antique fire place, original china cabinet, laundry, pocket doors, new kitchen, c/h/a (included in rent) new bath with vintage b&w tile floor, pedestal sink, huge double headed shower with glass block, walk in closet. $850 includes utilities. The apartment is in perfect shape & it's a great neighborhood. You can walk to downtown Decatur & Oakhurst."

We think c/h/a means central heating and air, but we'll see. She sent a few pictures that look pretty nice, and it's in a decent area so hopefully it'll work out. I think I was actually the first person to respond, so I'm going to look at it tomorrow morning. If it looks good, we're probably going to jump on it! Between the two of us we can definitely afford $855/mo and we're DYING for a place of our own!

Plus, the built in china cabinet doesn't hurt ;) We have to have somewhere to display wedding china and the ENTIRE SET of cobalt glasses Jay Yau got us!!

Brief interlude: Ellen DeGeneres is still as cute as she's always been. LOVE her.

What else has happened? A lot, I'm sure, but I can't even remember!

Let's see-- the last time I updated we were in MS visiting family... we saw "When in Rome" with Joanna for my birthday, and hit up The Matador for dinner. We went to Tybee for a marathon, which was loads of fun! I MISS COASTAL GEORGIA!!!

I left my camera in MS, so there aren't a lot of pictures from the last month, but I'll post some soon from Christmas on!

ciao for now!

Austin Masters

My friend Kim (whose wedding we went to last summer) had her baby boy this morning!!

Born March 25, 2009 at 745a-- 7lbs, 7oz and 20 inches long.

Auntie Meg can't wait to meet him! I'm so very excited for them, I know Nick is just so excited he can't stand it!

In other news, my room is littered with baby things. I need to get Violet's stuff (oh, and Meg and Michael decided on Violet Genevieve) to the K's and Cy's stuff to Krystal and now Austin's stuff to Kim and Nick! WHOO Babies!

Palate

First night at work was awesome. I worked with Peter, whose girlfriend is a flight attendant for AirTran, and even though it was a super slow night it was good because it gave me a chance to learn the ropes. The wines are super nice, and I'll probably only ever get to try a few of them (we can't taste the "fourth tier" wines, the ones that cost upwards of $100/bottle), but we do get a free meal every night we work, and 50% off on nights we're not working.

Tonight I had macadamia encrusted scallops with sauteed green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. It was amazing. Also, for those of you who were wondering about the chocolate peanut butter mousse cake (given the "Better than Sex" award by Creative Loafing, the local rag), I don't know if it's better than sex, but it's pretty darn good! It's like a really well made, high quality Reeses cake or something, just delicious.

Peter was really nice, and John (the cook), too. One of the regulars came in and hang out and we talked about airlines, Hawaii, fixing cars, marketing schemes (Peter had one about a really large wine glass put on the front lawn...), and our significant others. There was a book club that came in reading "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" which I haven't read, they recommended it though, so I may swing by the library. Other than that, there were just a couple of two tops and us. Even though the opening and closing stuff is kind of a bunch of tedious little things, it's really not that bad and I don't have to mop three levels of restaurant like at Birdi's, so I don't really mind at all.

Even though I told him not to worry about it, Peter tipped me out $10 (sadly only a third of what we made tonight) for the night, but he said that there are nights he'll make $10 or $20 and then come in for a Friday and pull $350 so I'm not too worried. That and with the $10 from tonight, I know I can pay for my Netflix addiction this month!

Friday is the 4th Anniversary party, so I'm going to that to meet the rest of the staff and have a glass of wine (they're knocking down all the high price wines by the glass, so I'm going to try the ones Peter recommended) and get to know my coworkers. If they're all as cool as Peter, and in a small staff they probably are, then I'll actually have a new group of friends!

I also, for the first time in a while, feel like going to bed at 1130p! I'm so glad this happened!

I GOT A JOB!!!

Thanks for all your happy thoughts-- I'm the newest server at Palate Cafe and Wine Bar in Oakhurst area, so come see me!

I start tomorrow at 5 and train tomorrow and Monday, then work M-W from 5 to close. Yay!

Babies!

My friend Kimberly, who was married in July and pregnant shortly thereafter, found out yesterday that she's going to have a little boy! I'm so excited for her-- she's nervous about having a boy instead of a girl, but she'll be a wonderful mother no matter what and I can't wait to have another little baby I can spoil! (with cheaper shipping to boot!)

Hopefully I can get the week off in April to go up and see her for the delivery, or at least right after to help her settle back in at home. Most of their family is in Missouri, and they're in Illinois, so I know her mom would like to know she's got someone taking care of Kim.
