Christmas Day

We went to church with my mom at Oakhurst Baptist last night AND this morning! I love the choir there; some of their members even sing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra! This is the church where we got married, so I had to get pictures of us in front of the tree. Thanks to mom's friend Renee for playing photographer-- a friend is going to touch up the first one, so I'll re-post when she's done. 

Mom got us a SoniCare toothbrush for Christmas which is pretty exciting-- our dentist says it's the best thing that we could do for our teeth, and we found it on sale for $40 which is nearly half price! I don't know how we would have afforded it otherwise, so THANKS mom! She also gave me some lavender epsom salts, and a little dremel type tool for Jeremy-- he has a big bad one, but this will be good for if he wants to take it to work or on the road so he doesn't have to worry about losing/breaking it. 

I got Jeremy "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" by Robert Pirsig and "Shop Class as Soulcraft" by Matthew Crawford, as well as "Cowboys and Aliens" and a couple of other things that I'm holding off on... he hasn't gotten anything for me, which I don't mind, but he's making himself feel bad about it so I don't want to give him the big surprise and make him feel really bad :\ I'll wait on that one until our first road trip, he'll be thrilled!

A brief hello while I wait for dinner to cook-- we're both so tired after today, we don't want to do anything we need to do!

We've already gotten some amazing gifts. I realize that these are gifts for which we registered, but it's still ridiculously exciting when you actually get them! We have a lot of kitchen stuff-- a panini press, bamboo kitchen tools, a nice salad spinner (I am so uselessly in love with salad spinners), guest towels-- I'm also really excited about all the sushi making stuff that we haven't gotten yet but shows bought on our registries. Sadly there are no rice molds on the C&B website, but I found some at Cook's Warehouse! Whoooo! Sushi party at our.. nonexistant... place...

Briefly, I would like to see "It's Complicated" even more now that I know that in addition to Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin, it also stars John Krasinski.

We managed to get our table linens on sale, thankfully, and I've started collecting cups and whatnot, so there isn't tooo much left to do, it's just a lot of little stuff that adds up!

YES! THEY MOVED UP THE RELEASE DATE ON THE HANGOVER!!!! DECEMBER 15, WHAT!

Sorry, that's just awesome news. Definitely watching that one night while getting stuff ready for the wedding!

Other than that, there isn't much going on. Less than a week until Joe, the first wedding party member, shows up at the airport! I can't WAIT to see him and Lauren!!!

Alright, I should go check on the chicken. That's enough babbling for now!

The world is getting smaller my Foot!

So last night I'm foolin' around on Borders and Amazon and even Build-a-Bear to find presents from Jeremy and I to Valerie, Matt, and Ana. I had wanted to get a few books or a movie or something, things that might last a while since they don't have much space for frivolous things living in an apartment in Singapore. I know that DVDs have different regions, so I'm trying to find the region that will play in Singapore or (thank you, Joe!) region-free DVDs and funny thing-- nobody sells the Asian region DVDs! And, none of the movies I had on my list for them are available region-free! Talk about a scam!

I see that Amazon has a China site, which would be great to buy and ship from there because the shipping would be less, but of course the site is in Chinese so when the Amazon support desk gets back to me and tells me to just use that site, I get a little irritated because they're either ignorant or working under the assumption that I can speak/read Chinese. Maybe I can call Dustin...

Borders has stores in Singapore, and I'd rather buy from Borders anyway, so I'm like, "Awesome, I can get them a gift card and they can just pop over and pick up whatever they want which is equally as good as my generally on the nose guesses." (yes, I actually said that, because I'm usually great at picking out books and movies for people) I ask the Borders help desk, and... you can't use Borders gift certificates anywhere but the US, which is the same problem with Amazon.

Do we really have such a poor relationship with Asia that we can't make it easy to get things to loved ones over there? I mean, geez! I'll have to get everything together and shipped to Memphis so that Marc and Jan can put it in their big box to Singapore and hope that my gift for Ana doesn't get crushed (not that I don't trust them to pack it on top, but I'm paranoid about things breaking). So, Jeremy probably won't get to sign the card. But, on the upside, I'll probably get Marc and Jan's presents at the same time, so maybe I'll get enough for free shipping ;)

Anyway, that was my adventure in Christmas shopping... I need to e-mail Jan and check on when they're sending that thing anyway. Blargh. People make things entirely too complicated in a world that's supposed to be simple!
