All crazy on the Eastern front

Well, folks, it has been anything but quiet here in the life of JeremyandMeg. Last time I actually updated (instead of just throwing more pictures at you) was Spirit Week. Lock In Week followed, and it was a lot of fun-- way better than last year's! We took the little kids to Cici's Pizza on Tuesday and put them to sleep with WALL-E, then the big kids went to Golden Corral (totally awesome) and eventually fell asleep to City of Ember. We were pretty beat after that, and spent the weekend of the 4th trying to relax and recuperate.

Last week was Lake Lanier, which was one hell of a week since we were short staffed. Wednesday went smoothly (except for the fact that we were surprised with 101 degree temps!) and all the parents who came with us had a lot of fun. I'm most proud of having a camp where the parents feel as comfortable as the kids tagging along on field trips! The kids were completely whooped for the rest of the week so even though we were desperate at the end of the week, it wasn't too bad.

This coming week is Movie Week-- so awesome. Monday, the kids will have the option between Avatar: The Last Airbender and Toy Story 3. Tuesday, we're watching the entire Mighty Ducks Trilogy. Wednesday we're all going to the Movie Tavern to have lunch and see Despicable Me. I'm pretty stoked. Friday, the older kids are going to see Sorcerer's Apprentice, which I actually really want to see.

After that... VACATION!!! We're leaving Saturday morning for Memphis to meet up with Josh and Sarah, then heading over to Paris to see Grandma and Grandpa Traylor, then just chilling out for a while. CAN'T WAIT.

Whooooeeee!

It's been one thing after another since last week! After getting back from the doctor, we hung out with Michael and the kids, and then I tried not to stay bitter about staying home from Six Flags. I love Six Flags.

Thursday I was busy all day at work, then Iggy set me up with a boot for my left foot, and I talked with her and Wade for a while. Friday we went to work and then left straight from there to go up to Mississippi to see Jan and Marc for father's day. We watched Royal Pains with them, then Jeremy crashed out. I took a tramadol they gave me for pain and ended up stoned out of my mind playing games on Jan's iPhone until 4a. I tried several times to go to sleep and couldn't! I slept in a little while on Saturday since I was going to be useless anyway, then propped my leg up and played more games on the iPhone while Jeremy helped clear out yard stuff.

We got to meet up with Suzanne, Donna, and Ashley for an afternoon snack at B'dubs (mmm, Asian Zing!) and then came home and went to a Mexican place for dinner. We went out looking for a storm that evening, to no avail, then we watched a ton more Swamp Loggers and Man vs. Wild on Discovery Channel with Marc and Jan, and crashed. Slept in a little Sunday, watched some American Pickers on History Channel (which was a fun find), and headed back to Atlanta with time for a short rest, and a swing by Publix before True Blood!

This week already feels like it should be over, the work is piling up on my desk, and it's all because the server was down all day yesterday (literally) and my e-mail didn't work until nearly 9 this morning! I have lots of shopping to do for work, but my ankle hurts like crazy and I'm the only one who can do it. Oh, and I'm in the boot for at least another week, and I'm waiting for the adjusters to approve a semi decent physical therapist for the three weeks of three times a week PT that was prescribed. Goody. They better hurry because if I miss the Lake Lanier field trip I am going to be seriously miffed.

Tomorrow and Thursday is more running around crazy at work, and then Friday I'll go in for work, then leave from there to head to Morgan's to leave to go to Leadership Institute for AOII all weekend, which will end with me rushing back to get to Julian's birthday on Sunday afternoon! WHAAAAAAAAA, crazy.

More later, and those pictures I've been promising for weeks-- maybe I can get it done in some downtime at LI.

Ciao!

Whaaaat?!

4 days!

Work's been crazy, the kids have been crazy, and who KNOWS what's going on in my head! I have pictures, but the internet at the house has chosen the best time ever to flake out so I'll put them up whenever I can get the bandwidth...

Wish me luck with the rest of the week!

Oh Happy Day?

This weekend was a lot of fun even though I was a little under the weather-- Sophia came to visit! I miss her soooo much! Friday night we went to El Tesoro and then hung out with Meg and Michael for a while. Saturday we got up early and helped mom set up for her yard sale, which went pretty well, then Jonathan (who was back to pick his mother up) came over for breakfast, and Michael brought Julian and Violet and I made bacon, veggie sausage, biscuits, and waffles. I was going to make eggs, but mom boiled them all and I didn't realize until everyone was about to walk in the door! Anyway, breakfast was nice and it was very family-like to hang out and shoot the breeze and play with the baby and watch Julian be a goofball.

After everyone left, we thought about going to see an IMAX at Fernbank since it's cheaper with our membership, but then we started talking about other movies and I remembered that Northlake Movie Tavern does $5 Saturday movies before 6p, so we decided to go see The Hangover after going to Fernbank. We went up and walked around the rose garden, and then went in to see the dinosaurs. Afterwards, we came back and helped mom pack up and found out which stuff from the yard sale I get to keep for the apartment. Then we went to the Movie Tavern and had a blast. The food was yummy, they had Blue Moon on draft, and it was the best $14 we ever spent at a movie! Oh, and the movie was pretty darn funny, too. :) After the movie, we did something I don't remember and hung out with the K's for a while.

Sunday we went to Target, where Sophia found a waffle maker for $7 and I got a bunch of clearance groceries! Then we went to Lenox and wandered around for a while, and stopped by a Pier One that was going out of business-- talk about a smart move! I'm hoping that by the time Friday rolls around, the dining room table I want will still be there and down to $100! If it's down to $75, and the side table I want is down to $15 then I'll just have to get both of them ;) It's my impetus to clean out my car. The table is really nice, dark wood with red legs, and it's a drop leaf to fit six-- it was originally $300!

After a while, we came home (exhausted and hungry) and then ate some more at Palate, and went over to Iggy and Wade's to watch True Blood and Hung. We all remarked on the fact that Sookie is way more annoying this season than last.

Last night things took a turn for the worse... I woke up with a fever around 2a and have had one ever since :( My ears feel like someone's shoved a Q-Tip in too far (to which Jeremy remarks that he knows how that feels... Valerie!), and I coughed so much at work this morning I almost threw up! Thankfully, VBS doesn't require as much of my attention and so I was able to slip away and do most of that in private without getting it all over someone else.

VBS wasn't too bad, though the head lady is a little bit prickly and doesn't care much for the camp kids or the counselors, even though she doesn't want to seem to help us figure out what we're supposed to be doing! They also had some really boring music for a church that's known for having one of the best music programs in the area-- Jeremy said the second song we did this morning is a really really old one. The first one I don't even remember, which is a change from VBS when I was little-- all those songs would get stuck in my head for weeks! I always liked, "Oh Happy Day" since it was so upbeat and easy to sing. The package they have for this year is Paul and the Underground Church, which I was vaguely intrigued by, but so far it's been either half-hearted or historically (and apparently also biblically) incorrect. The Olympics started in Greece, not Rome, and Saul of Tarsus was from (get this) Tarsus, not Jerusalem. The guy who played Paul in the sketch was reading off a piece of paper, and the script for the visit to the Underground Church had high church Latin, not the traditional Latin that was spoken until post Constantine. Fran let me correct the Latin, though, so I had my happy little dork moment ;) All in all it was OK, and I think some of the church members weren't thrilled with the package either, so we'll see what the rest of the week brings. Maybe Paul will have learned his lines!

Now, to bed-- I still have a fever and I'm super exhausted!

PS- we put in our applications for the apartment this weekend and I'm really excited! If you want to see pictures, go check the place out. It's not our furniture, but I'm looking to do a similar style.

Hoo...

This week was camp out week... I hope for Richard's sake and everyone else's that never happens again. Tuesday the K-2nd graders camped out, Wednesday the 3-7th graders camped out, and Thursday was a lock-in with the whole camp in the gym. Now, camping out is a good experience for a lot of the kids, but putting them in tents... *sigh* it was a bad decision for all of us. I think Richard is just going to do the lock-in next year, which will be better for him. Wednesday, I ended up falling asleep in some of those fold-up stadium chairs in the center of some of the tents because their inhabitants wouldn't stop talking! OR sassing me! And most people I know will tell you that I don't take well to being sassed. At all. I think I made that mistake once when I was a kid and my mom picked me up and popped me.

Needless to say, I only got about 2 hours of sleep. Thursday, therefore, was just about hell on earth. We went to the new World of Coke, which was totally awesome, but the boys were just as badly behaved and wore me out. Chris, my partner for this week, was really helpful, though. He can be a little goofy sometimes, but when it comes to making sure people aren't taken advantage of, Chris is right there on it. Thursday night was the lock in and it went SO much smoother than the night before! We had the girls on one side, the guys on the other, and put on a movie right at bedtime. We did get a break that afternoon-- I tried to take a nap at home and just couldn't fall asleep, but DID go buy my NEW COMPUTER!!!

I LOOOOOVE IT!

It's pretty and shiny and has amazing graphics and is convenient and almost has all my old pictures and all my music on it because in a stroke of good luck, the old computer decided to give it one more go and turned on! I'm stuffing the important things on my jump drive and transferring them directly on to the new one (aka, pictures and music).

I'll put up pictures of it tomorrow, right now I'm so engrossed in True Blood (season finale, season one) that even though I'm entirely drained from the last few days I can't seem to fall asleep! I'll also have pictures from this week up, and then Sunday I'll have pictures of Julian's 3rd birthday up!! I'm so excited-- he's such a sweetie, and he's going to be my ringbearer. We'll have to make a special pillow, though, unless he loses his affinity for rings; last time I was over, he took Meg's wedding band (one of the reasons they just got cheap-o Target bands!) and started playing hide and seek with it, put it in the baby seat and we had to turn the thing upside down and take the liner out to get the ring back! It was pretty hilarious. I think he and Ana will make quite an amusing little pair!

Alright, we're about to finale on the finale and I'm about done with my water quota for the day, so I'll wrap it up.

Ciao!

PS- Richard walked on my back a couple days ago and popped that nasty little bugger back in to place!! There's still a little bit of stretching to do, but it feels soooooo much better!
