Sunday: TOWER OF LONDON!

(that's supposed to be said in your best spooky voice)

Entry

First "modern" style fireplace in the tower-- this is in Henry VIII's bedroom

A very cool model of the munitions house-- it's lovely on the outside...

And then on the inside, if you look closely in the window, you'll see a little dragon in there protecting everything! What's everything? Why the rows and rows of tiny munitions racks!

Ax and chopping block. THE ax and chopping block.

Curiosities of the Tower indeed!

Babboons from the menagerie installation

chillin'

Home of the Crown Jewels!

White Tower in all its glory!

Across the yard

More of the cool iron statues around

This is what you could see if you were a prisoner at the Tower!

In the Menagerie room, there are more monkeys!

Old and New

In an upscale prisoner's room

Guard

Jeremy reading about Anne Boleyn being buried here before I got yelled at for taking a picture when I shouldn't have. I DIDN'T SEE THE SIGN! I EVEN LOOKED! Gah. Color me embarrassed.

  1. Thanks for the visual feast - I love the photos, and especially the one you got yelled at for. Now I'm wondering if they buried her head there too??... Grisly thought, but Halloween IS near!

  2. Brief research shows that probably, her head was buried with her-- though you could make a pretty badass vampire story if it wasn't!

  3. PS-- I looked around online and apparently I'm the only person EVER to get yelled at for taking pictures in there because everyone and their mother has a picture of Anne Boleyn's burial marker!
