Cooking!

I've been trying to get creative with cooking on a fairly limited budget, so I've decided that even though the pre made sauces and mixes aren't always THAT healthy, using them every now and again is a time saver and if you get a good brand they taste pretty good, too!

Fresh veggies!
Stir fry
Stir fry and beef with noodles-- faux pho
Cookin' up a storm
Blackened chicken topped with bacon and pepperjack cheese over rice with corn
Not so red curry-- it tasted like it, though!
Mmmmm onions and chicken

Garden Week Who Knows What

Summer's gotten so busy I can't keep up with the garden! Here are some random shots of things growing, changing colors, and trying their best not to die in the heat. There are tons of them, so I'm not going to caption them all!

Eggs!

Chopped Chipotles, mayo, and a few secret ingredients
Yum!

Sooooooooooo good!
My newest deal is making chipotle deviled eggs, they're a huge hit and SUPER yummy! Here are the ones I made for the True Blood party for the premiere!

Whooooeeee!

It's been one thing after another since last week! After getting back from the doctor, we hung out with Michael and the kids, and then I tried not to stay bitter about staying home from Six Flags. I love Six Flags.

Thursday I was busy all day at work, then Iggy set me up with a boot for my left foot, and I talked with her and Wade for a while. Friday we went to work and then left straight from there to go up to Mississippi to see Jan and Marc for father's day. We watched Royal Pains with them, then Jeremy crashed out. I took a tramadol they gave me for pain and ended up stoned out of my mind playing games on Jan's iPhone until 4a. I tried several times to go to sleep and couldn't! I slept in a little while on Saturday since I was going to be useless anyway, then propped my leg up and played more games on the iPhone while Jeremy helped clear out yard stuff.

We got to meet up with Suzanne, Donna, and Ashley for an afternoon snack at B'dubs (mmm, Asian Zing!) and then came home and went to a Mexican place for dinner. We went out looking for a storm that evening, to no avail, then we watched a ton more Swamp Loggers and Man vs. Wild on Discovery Channel with Marc and Jan, and crashed. Slept in a little Sunday, watched some American Pickers on History Channel (which was a fun find), and headed back to Atlanta with time for a short rest, and a swing by Publix before True Blood!

This week already feels like it should be over, the work is piling up on my desk, and it's all because the server was down all day yesterday (literally) and my e-mail didn't work until nearly 9 this morning! I have lots of shopping to do for work, but my ankle hurts like crazy and I'm the only one who can do it. Oh, and I'm in the boot for at least another week, and I'm waiting for the adjusters to approve a semi decent physical therapist for the three weeks of three times a week PT that was prescribed. Goody. They better hurry because if I miss the Lake Lanier field trip I am going to be seriously miffed.

Tomorrow and Thursday is more running around crazy at work, and then Friday I'll go in for work, then leave from there to head to Morgan's to leave to go to Leadership Institute for AOII all weekend, which will end with me rushing back to get to Julian's birthday on Sunday afternoon! WHAAAAAAAAA, crazy.

More later, and those pictures I've been promising for weeks-- maybe I can get it done in some downtime at LI.

Ciao!

Cuidado! Piso Mojado!

Those three words, be they in a different language or not, could have saved me a lot of pain and suffering!

I was at the end of my shift today, and ran upstairs to grab some stuff off the printer (as someone messed with mine and it now doesn't want to work)-- I stepped off the elevator on the first floor at First School and started sliding. Someone had spilled a whole lot of water right there and hadn't bothered to clean it up or find a janitor to do it, so I hit the floor and bruised my ankle, knee, and hip. Imagine my chagrin as tomorrow is our trip to Six Flags!!

I went up and filed an incident report with the finance/HR office and they sent me over to Urgent Care at DeKalb Medical where I saw a doctor we used to see all the time when we went there as kids (it's the neighborhood doc in the box as well, it's not too bad for a walk in clinic). They took a million x-rays and everything looked ok, wrapped my ankle, and told me to stay off it for the rest of the week. They would have released me from work, but I need to be there so things run smoothly, unfortunately it means I can't go to Six Flags. I'm minorly irritated to say the least.

All this could have been avoided had someone just taken responsibility!

I do have more pictures of the garden, and I'm slowly getting pictures from the wedding up on Facebook. We've had them for a while, I've just been so busy!

Now we're keeping Michael company and watching "The Book of Eli" since it came out today-- I think it's a good movie, though I'm still torn on the very ending. This weekend, we'll head up to Southaven to see Jan and Marc for father's day, and hopefully see Suzy and a couple others as well. Until then, join with us and encourage the rain to come! We had our first rain in almost two weeks today and if it doesn't keep up we'll suffocate!

Garden Week Seven

Sooo, I totally forgot to post this last week! I saved it until I got more photos, but that didn't work.. I have more photos, but I'm just going to go ahead and post these since I have no clue when I'll have a chance later.

The peas look fantastic! We're also really excited that the cayennes have started to turn and will be nice and edible soon. The banana peppers at camp have started growing in as well, and I'm hoping the tomatillos somewhere start growing in-- I'm dying to make either salsa verde or salsa perpurpa!

More pictures as soon as I can come up with some time!
