Friday, Friday, Friday!

Friday was totally low key, it was AMAZING! I did a little bit of work and then watched HGTV and a very cool show on the History Channel about acids! Jeremy and Marc went to Lenny's sub shop for lunch and brought me back an Italian which was sooooooooo good! I miss Lenny's a lot... definitely going to take advantage of the one up by Emmy's more often!

Friday night, we went to a new restaurant in Hernando called Buon Cibo-- it was Panera/Atlanta Bread Company kind of food for the same kind of price, and it was surprisingly good. Marc had a Cuban sandwich (that he said was nearly as good as the ones he used to get in Miami) and a cup of roasted red pepper soup (which was delicious, and much less of a bisque than we expected!), Jan had a Chef's Salad, Jeremy got a ginormous meatloaf sandwich with house chips (also delicious!), and I had an apple/walnut/bleu cheese salad and a cup of coconut chicken soup. My salad was good, but I would have preferred for the apples and walnuts to be chopped so I was able to mix the flavors a little more, but it was sopping with dressing which is just the way I like it! Jan loved her salad because of the addition of pickled onions which were very well done! The whole thing was apparently started by a chef who used to run a restaurant in Memphis, and it's a nice little startup, so I hope it lasts. There aren't a lot of healthy, affordable options in the area and this is a decent alternative to Sonic!

To end the night, we decided to watch the original Tron which we got Jan for mother's day! It was a lot of fun since the Clarks hadn't seen it in ages and I'd never seen it! It was an interesting story line, and how awesome to see young Jeff Daniels-- The Dude was a suave looking youngster! I also got interested in the timeline from the original Tron and Tron: Legacy.

Oh, hey there blog, what's up?

So, we're sitting here waiting... Valerie and Ana's flight was canceled from ORD to MEM so we're assuming she'll be here in the morning but have been unable to get in touch with her. In the meantime, we took Jan to dinner and now I'm watching HGTV with her while Marc assists Jeremy with his obsessive sound deadening of my car! I'm also researching Ethiopian cooking for that fated day when the kids finally arrive in the States. I figure that with so many Ethiopian restaurants in Decatur/Atlanta, and with YDFM right up the street, we're in the best place to pick up spices and whatnot to cook for them!

The last week and a half hasn't been quite as productive at work as I'd hoped, but that's life in the fast lane-- it feels like every time I need to be super productive, the only thing that will get me there is an 11 hour day and I just can't do that to myself! I did get a little bit of work work done here on Friday, but the rest is all paperwork related and has to be done in the office. YIKES what a crazy day Tuesday will be!!

I've taken a few pictures this weekend, and will post those throughout the week since we're starting our 7-3 schedule! 7a is hard for me, but man oh man do I LOVE those extra hours in the afternoon! I'll finally be able to get Alana's cookies out, I'll be able to mail something to Joe, and I'm going to really toughen up on myself and start cleaning out my closet-- things I haven't worn since college, things that just plain won't ever fit again, and stuff I haven't used in a year or more (and not just because I don't own a study where I can hang things on the wall) will ALL be sorted out to go in a yard sale! After the yard sale, whatever's left will go to the Sal Army to get it out of our house! This fall, we hope to come up to Marc and Jan's and get some of our mess out of the way here as well. I'm hoping by then we will have maybe found a new apartment that will fit the desk I painted when I lived in midtown. Jeremy hates that desk (it's too bright for his tastes) but I LOVE that desk!!!

That's all for now since the computer's about to die, but there will be more and I PROMISE I'll be better about updating!

Doozy of a Week!

I realized last night that at the moment, I am essentially running three programs-- I'm wrapping up after school for the 2010-2011 school year, organizing/promoting/registering for summer 2011, and organizing/promoting/registering for after school 2011-2012! NO WONDER I'm exhausted!

Earlier this week was cold and icky, felt more like November than May, but we lucked out big time for our after school cookout last night! There was great turnout, everyone had fun, the weather was PERFECT, and we ate all the food there! Someone even brought a quinoa salad that was delicious!! It was great to see everyone having fun and as exhausting as it was, I really enjoyed myself. There are some amazing families there that really make my work worth it! I made ribs (which I'll have to do all the time now!) and now I have blisters on my hand from chopping them up to serve! Who knew?

I have to go in to work tomorrow, which really stinks, but we're leaving Thursday night for a long weekend in Memphis which will be soooooo nice. We'll have all of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and half of Monday there! Valerie and Ana are coming in, so we're really excited to see them-- we haven't seen Ana in over a year and can't wait to see how much she's grown!! Without a doubt, she will remember Jeremy-- she always does!

Finally, I'm published!! AOL owns a network of local news and opinion sites called Patch, and I'm officially a blogger for them! The editor loves my Agape posts so much, she wants me to edit them to fit a local market and post them up!

More later, gotta go get some SLEEP now!

Saturday...

According to a Christian media figure (who apparently predicted the same thing in '94), Judgement Day is Saturday! While I agree that the recent weather suggests things aren't right in the Universe, my tongue in cheek side went with an Apocalypse Party for tonight's Agape post!

Chilly!

It's really chilly here this week, like in the 50's which is crazy for May! In honor of that, I have an emergency solution up at Agape Events!

Baby Showers!

A little cross promotion here-- Baby Showers by Agape Events!

Whoops!

I'm so sorry! I got so caught up on updating the Agape Events blog that I've totally neglected this little spit of the internet! Not that things have been slow otherwise-- I've been staffing for summer camp and pushing the registration really hard-- my least favorite phrase at the moment is "Oh, I'm sorry, I just keep forgetting!" Well, guess what? When you show up the first day of camp after forgetting all those weeks, we won't have the staff to take your child! FORETHOUGHT!

We are also already in the throes of 90+ degree weather which, for those of us used to having a spring, is a little bit obnoxious and makes me a little worried about our field trips this summer. It also means we're likely to have a very active summer as far as severe weather goes, so here's to hoping no tornadoes at Six Flags (which I will miss AGAIN this year-- gah!).

My PT is going well, second appointment is tomorrow, and on the first appointment he fixed my foot! It's sore, of course, since all the muscles are getting used to functioning again, but it doesn't feel like there's cement on my foot anymore which is amazing! I think I'm going to ask him to look at my wrist and see if there's a quick fix for that... that way Jeremy can stop feeling bad when he's messing around and grabs the wrong wrist (which usually puts a damper on sneaking up on me and tickling me while I'm in the middle of doing something, just to define "messing around" for y'all).

Anyways, I finally figured out 95% of staffing last night, so that's a huge load off my plate, and I'm hoping that I can wrap up some other pesky things this week. At the end of the month, we plan to go up and visit Marc and Jan since we haven't been in a while and I might actually be able to finagle a four day weekend out of Memorial Day!

More later, off to work for the day!

Congrats Heather!!

Our friend Heather (Rob from running group's girlfriend) finally finished her MBA! We're all pretty excited, especially since this means she can relax a little and start coming out with us! To celebrate, we threw a surprise party at Nandan and Anu's with some really great food, drinks, and company-- an excellent Saturday night, and somehow nobody died from Nandan's crazy concoctions. This time there was black vodka with double habanero and cinnamon infused, and regular habanero and anise infused plain vodka. I stayed clear of BOTH! Sadly my camera died just before the sake bombs (and about an hour before we left), but here are a few pictures we managed to get!

 Ikebana-style celebration!
Rob is pretty fascinated by Charlie Sheen-- clearly!
 Heather was totally surprised!
Anu, Tracy, Heather and I wait for Nandan to finish making the sake bombs
Nandan attempted this in paper cups first; we're not sure why!
